It enables training through three different categories:
1. Workplace-based training required for registration
The visa enables applicants who need workplace-based training to get professional registration, membership or licensing needed to work in their occupation in Australia or their home country.
The training program targets individuals who have recent and relevant experience in an eligible occupation and need structured workplace-based training to improve their skills for that occupation.
The training program must be designed to address the individual requirements of the applicant.
2. Occupational training for capacity building overseas
- Overseas qualification: For students studying at foreign institutions who need to complete practical training, research or observation to earn their qualification (up to 6 months).
- Government support: For structured workplace-based occupational training supported by an Australian government agency or the government of the applicant’s home country.
- Professional development: Professional or management-level staff from overseas organisations can participate in Australia-based professional development programs that are custom-designed.
