Australia offers a range of Employer Sponsored visa options which facilitates Australian employers to fill skills shortages with skilled workers from overseas.

The most common Employer Sponsored visa type is the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa, which is a temporary visa.

Employer Sponsored visas also include the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa which is a permanent visa and the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa, which has recently replaced the previous Regional Employer Sponsored visa – 187 (RSMS)

Subclass 482 – Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa

The 482 Employer Sponsored visa is the most common work visa in Australia. Although a temporary working visa, It allows you to live and work in Australia for up to four years. It can also lead to Permanent Residency in Australia, but this will depend on you occupation and the stream you are eligible for.

Subclass 186 – Employer Nominated (ENS) Visa (Permanent)

The subclass 186 ENS visa has two streams, the subclass 186 ENS Transitional stream, for applicants who spend a pre-requisite period on a 457 visa or a TSS visa (as described above) and the subclass 186 ENS Direct stream for skilled workers who haven’t spent time employed by the sponsoring employer on a 457 visa or a TSS visa.

Subclass 494 – Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa

The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (Subclass 494) is the new employee sponsored visa for regional areas. It will replace the previous Regional Employer Sponsored visa – 187 (RSMS). The 494 Visa is initially a temporary visa that may allow you to obtain permanent residency after 3 years.

Subclass 482 – Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA)

A Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is a formal agreement between the Australian Government and a regional state or territory authority. DAMA permits employers in designated areas to sponsor skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers for positions they are unable to fill with local workers. It is custom-made to address current and growing labour market shortages and local terms and conditions of employment.

Subclass 407 – Training Visa

The Training Visa (Subclass 407) allows Australian companies and government agencies to sponsor applicants to participate in occupational training activities and professional development activities. This visa allows you to work for your sponsor in your job whilst undertaking in a structured training program provided by your employer.
