What is it?
English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) programs are designed for students who are seeking to improve their English for work or career purposes, some have a personal interest in becoming fluent in English, and some intend to travel. Others may want to continue their education in English, either in Australia or elsewhere, and need to develop the necessary language skills to undertake further study.
Although, there are many English courses available in Australia, the government has recognised the ELICOS Standards officially and this has enhanced Australia’s reputation as a provider of world-class international education.
Types of ELICOS courses
General English (GE)
General English (GE) is recommended as the first step in language learning for those just starting out with English.GE course prepares you to use English in the real world. The program is designed to teach you to communicate fluently with English speakers by improving your grammar, pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
The EAP program helps you develop your English language proficiency for further education. The EAP program focuses on teaching you the academic language and skills you need to thrive at university, college or TAFE.
Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses
Cambridge Exam Preparation Courses will provide you with all the skills needed to pass a PET, FCE or CAE exam. Cambridge English exams are recognised by employers, universities, and colleges around the world, and the results are valid for life.
IELTS Preparation Course
IELTS Preparation course prepares you to take the internationally recognised International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test and to achieve your desired score. This course will teach you the techniques and skills required in the four major test sections of the IELTS test including speaking, listening, reading and writing.
