Careers and graduate outcomes
Panel Beaters (aka Automotive Body Repairers) repair damage to metal, plastic, and fibreglass bodywork on vehicles, as well as make and form vehicle panels. Studying to be a Panel Beater could see you working in a crash repairer, new or used car dealership, or even with a motor vehicle manufacturer.
Automotive Industry trade pathway:
Step 1
Firstly, enrol in the Certificate III & IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology – this has a duration of two years.
Step 3
Whilst on the Graduate Visa, you must undertake the Job Ready Program through TRA (Trades Recognition Australia). This requires 12 months of paid work experience as a Panel Beater and can enable you to obtain a positive full skills assessment for migration purposes.
Step 2
After studying the two-year training package, provided you have undertaken 360 hours of work in an Australian workplace or vocational placement during your studies, you may be eligible to apply for the 485 Graduate Visa. This is a temporary work visa that allows you to live and work in Australia after graduation for up to 18 months.
Step 4
After you have completed the Job Ready Program you will receive a positive skills assessment as a Panel Beater. This means you may be eligible to apply for permanent work visas such as General Skilled Migration (Subclass 189 or 190), or 491. This will also make you eligible for employer sponsorship as you would have satisfied the two-year work experience criteria for a Temporary Short Skilled Subclass 482 Visa.
Superior migration expertise at your side.
